Lalong Flags-off Education, Empowerment Initiative For Girls

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has flagged off the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), as well as the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) to facilitate the education of indigent girls.

At the event in Victoria Gowon Hall, New Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos, Lalong said the programme, which is a partnership of the World Bank, Federal Government and Plateau, was initiated to encourage girls that dropped out of school due to lack of funds, infrastructure or cultural hindrances in their communities.

While commending the World Bank for extending the timely funding partnership to Plateau, the governor said the project, when completed, will change the face of education in the state and give girls a brighter future.

Plateau will benefit from $3,972,000 in scholarships and infrastructural expansion.
