Sanwo-Olu Plans Salary Increase For Workers

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, yesterday, said he had concluded plan for upward review of workers’ salaries by the end of the month.
 
Sanwo-Olu, who disclosed this while addressing public servants during a working visit to the state secretariat at Alausa, Ikeja, said the planned salary increase was in view of the current inflation in the country. He commended the workers for their support, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
The governor, who also approved a 25 per cent increase of core establishment duty allowance, said that before the end of the month, the first phase of 100 vehicles for directors in the public service would be delivered.
 
Sanwo-Olu, who was accompanied by some of his cabinet members and the Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, said his administration was committed to improving the welfare of workers and the prompt payment of pensions to retirees in the civil service.
 
Besides, Sanwo-Olu announced plan to raise the fleet of staff buses deployed to carry workers from their homes to work and back.
The additional buses, he said, would be deployed on new routes to assist those not captured in existing routes. The Head of Service thanked the governor for fulfilling his promises during his first working visit to the secretariat, urging him to further address some issues that had to do with environment, allowances, among others.
