ASUU Strike: Speaker House Of Reps Meets For Further Consultations

The acting Accountant-General of the Federation, Adolphus Aghughu, has assured that issues surrounding the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System and the University Tertiary and Accountability Solution between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities will be resolved in three months.

He noted that modification of the IPPIS would be completed within three months, asking ASUU to forward the list of issues to be addressed in the system.

He said this in Abuja on Monday at the continued engagement between ASUU and the House of Representatives on the lingering crisis between the Federal Government and the union.

The President of ASUU, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, also stated that Nigeria’s biggest problem in academia was inadequate human resources, warning that the country was on the verge of losing more lecturers to other countries.

According to Osodeke, lecturers who are dedicated and passionate about the job are being frustrated out of Nigerian universities while those who are ‘accidental’ academics are now frustrating the academic system.
