Students of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) on Wednesday insisted that the authorities of the institution reverse the recent increment of school fees.

The students, who began protest on 12th September, 2023 over the increment expressed dissatisfaction with the 300% increase considering the economic hardship currently experienced in the country following removal of fuel subsidy.

One of the protesters, Praise John said “…when the school fees was N45,000 so many people were not able to pay talk more of N110,000.

“So, how do they want us to survive it; how do they want us to cope?, John asked.

In his submission, John Onah said “the main aim of the protest is the fact that we want the school fees reverted back to its normal stage.”

“The increment is like over 300% double which is very very wrong,” Onah added.

Earlier on Tuesday, UNIJOS Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Christopher Piwuna, assured the students that the fee hike is of concern to the authorities and is receiving their attention.
